✅ Put your phone in repair mode
Put your phone in repair mode
Repair or maintenance modes help protect your personal information while still allowing technicians to access the tools they need to diagnose and test your phone. The setup depends on which device you have.
iPhone
For your iPhone® to be ready for repairs, the important step is to turn off Find My:
- Go to Settings > [Your Name] > Find My > Find My iPhone.
- Tap the switch to turn Find My iPhone off.
- Enter your Apple Account password, then tap Turn Off.
Depending on the repair, we may also ask you to temporarily turn off your passcode so we can run diagnostic tests. We'll let you know if that's necessary.

Samsung Galaxy
Samsung® has Maintenance mode, which creates a separate environment technicians can use while restricting access to your personal photos, messages, contacts, and accounts. To activate it:
- Go to Settings > Device care.
- Scroll down to Maintenance mode.
- Tap Turn on, then follow the prompts and let your phone restart.
If you don't already use a Lock screen, Maintenance mode will prompt you to set one up before you continue.
Note: Maintenance mode is only available on devices running One UI 5 or higher
Google Pixel
On Google Pixel®, Repair mode lets us diagnose and service the device while keeping your personal data separate.
- Go to Settings > System.
- Tap on Repair mode, then follow the prompts.
- Use your existing screen-lock PIN, password, or pattern to start Repair mode. Don’t have one? You’ll be prompted to create and verify one.
- Let your device restart, then you'll be in Repair mode.
Note: Repair mode requires Android 14 or later and 2 GB of available space left on the device.
Back up your data
Even if your repair seems straightforward, make a current backup before you come in. We take great care to protect your data, but some repairs may require resetting the device. A backup means your photos, contacts, messages, and other important stuff are safe, just in case.
👉 Before you get started, connect your device to Wi-Fi and keep it connected until the backup is done.
