Treat Your Tech: Celebrating National Phone Day
When’s the last time you pampered your tech: got your phone a new case, or even gave it a good wipe down?
Our tech tends to get the most attention right when we first get it. When it’s shiny and new, you can’t stop browsing cases, charging pads, etc… And after the excitement wears off, it’s easy to forget about.
But with all the work our electronic devices do for us, we think it’s time to give them a little well-deserved pampering in return.
And since National Phone Day is April 25th, now is the perfect time to “TREAT YO’ TECH.”
Need some inspo? Here’s a few of our favorite phone accessories.
PopSocket© or Phone Ring
With phones getting bigger and bigger, they can be more of a strain on our hands and arms. Don’t risk dropping your device from muscle fatigue! We highly recommend investing in an ergonomic phone grip.
While there are many types of phone grips on the market, we’ve noticed most people fall into one of two camps: Phone Ring or PopSocket©. Both have some solid selling points, so the choice is mostly a matter of personal taste.
Whichever side you end up taking, you won’t regret investing in the well-being of your phone; or your fingers!
Most people know the importance of a screen protector, because they have likely lost a phone due to a shattered screen which wasn’t protected. What most people do not know is that not all screen protectors are created equally!
Search for a screen protector, and you’ll be inundated with a plethora of types, styles, material and protection levels. It can be overwhelming: but we’re here to help!
If you really want to treat your phone, our advice is spring for a tempered glass option. While they may cost a little more, in the long run, you’re investing in the protection of one of the most vulnerable areas of your phone. My screen’s protector definitely saved me from a few costly screen replacements!
If you don’t have a screen protector, or think yours may be subpar, do your phone a favor and upgrade to a tempered glass option, like the Spigen Screen Protector. This option comes with 2 tempered glass protectors, and even includes an “easy screen installation tray.”
Speaking of protection, your phone’s case is a vital component of device protection. Your case is specifically for impact protection.
Many of us get a nice new case when we get a new phone, then forget to upgrade that case as technology and protection increases. Just like screen protectors, not all cases are the same; your case might look good, but that doesn’t mean it’s providing optimal protection.
If you are looking for a great way to treat your phone, a new case is definitely one of our top go-to’s! One of our all time favorites is Otterbox©. It’s a tried and true brand that really delivers on their promises. Want to go the extra mile!? Try a case that’s antimicrobial, has a built-in wallet, or even a built-in PopSocket®!
Phone Camera Lenses
With phone cameras being so well made these days, most people have ditched their digital camera and started using their phones for all their photography needs. And with the rise of picture-focused social media, such as Instagram™, everyone can let their inner shutterbug out!
If you’re looking to take your pictures to a whole new level, consider investing in some specialty lenses made specifically for your cell phone.
One of our favorites are Moment Lenses. While they have a slightly higher price tag than some other options, we think the incredible quality justifies the expense. And they offer all sorts of lenses. Fisheye, wide angle, macro, micro– you name it!
Not ready to make that big of an investment, but still want to try a few new lenses? No worries! There are tons of more affordable options on websites like Amazon©.
When was the last time you gave your device a bath? Okay, not like an actual bath… We definitely don’t recommend that! But what about a really thorough wipe down?
Since the start of the pandemic, we’ve grown accustomed to sanitizing practically everything we own. And we’re learning your cell phone could use some sanitization, too!
According to TIME Magazine©, cell phones are covered in germs– they claim the average phone is “10 times dirtier than a toilet seat.” GROSS! With device sanitization awareness on the rise, different products have come out to make it easier to clean your phone, like UV lights and disinfecting wipes.
One of the most popular items in this category is PhoneSoap phone sanitizer – think of it like a UV light-bath for your phone. It’s a lot safer than the actual bath option, but still gets your screen squeaky clean!
There are now screen-safe disinfecting wipes, like Clorox Clean Screen Wipes, available too. You probably already know that you can’t use just any cleaner on your phone screen, as certain chemicals can destroy or degrade electronics over time… Which is why it’s so nice that we now have screen-safe options that let you pamper your phone with a spa day!
