Re-Cycle Electronics

Technology is advancing at a ridiculous rate these days. Just when you think you have the latest gadget, a new version is released soon after. People want to have the newest, fastest, most powerful smartphones, tablets, cameras, and mp3 players. People are so keen on updating, they don’t give a second thought to discarding their previous device, and many of them end up in the trash or in the back of a closet, never to be seen again. The thing of it is though, when you throw away an electronic you are throwing away valuable components and resources, and harming the environment in irreparable ways.

The electronics we use and rely on most every day contain metals such cadmium, lead, and mercury. When electronic devices sit in a landfill, over time these metals find their way into the ground, and eventually, into groundwater. These metals can contaminate the local flora and fauna, damaging local Eco-systems that then take years to recover.

As well as these types of metals eventually getting into the ground, electronic devices, from computers to smartphones, to tablets, contain things like gold, copper, and platinum. These are expensive and valuable resources that can be recovered from recycled electronics to be put to further use. When electronic devices are thrown out, or left sitting around, it wastes these precious materials, forcing the mining of more raw minerals. This mining is costly to consumers and harmful to the environment.

uBreakiFix Boulder has taken notice of this need for recycling smart devices and has partnered up with a local company to make E-recycling incredibly easy for you! We encourage you to bring in your small electronics- cameras. phones, iPods, etc. so that we can send them off to be recycled. Please refrain from bringing in large electronics at this time, as we are not able to handle those electronic recycling needs at this time. It’s as easy as visiting our Boulder location, and giving one of our friendly technicians the device you would like to recycle, and they will take care of the rest for you!

So if you have some older small electronics just sitting around, or if you have recently upgraded an electronic device, bring your older one in and help break the cycle of waste by E-recycling!
