ORLANDO, Fla.—June 21, 2021—Tech repair leader uBreakiFix by Asurion today announced the appointment of Dave Barbuto as Chief Executive Officer. Barbuto brings to the role more than 15 years’ experience in operations, product management, and customer solutions management with tech care company Asurion

uBreakiFix joined the Asurion family in 2019 with a shared mission to make customers’ lives easier through technology. In less than two years, Asurion has fueled uBreakiFix’s growth from 500 retail locations to nearly 700 stores across the U.S. and Canada, with plans to continue accelerating growth under Barbuto’s leadership.

As CEO, Barbuto will leverage his expertise to strengthen the impact of uBreakiFix’s existing brick-and-mortar footprint and lead its continued expansion into new markets, bringing much-needed tech repair services to even more communities.

“I’ve worked closely with uBreakiFix for many years, and it’s a tremendous privilege to have been tapped to build upon everything this team has achieved,” Barbuto said. “The growth uBreakiFix has seen over the last 12 years is a testament not only to the ubiquitous need for affordable, accessible tech repair, but to the customer-first vision that has shaped its operations. I look forward to helping amplify our impact while continuing to honor the culture of care that defines the uBreakiFix experience.”

As CEO, Barbuto succeeds uBreakiFix Co-founder Justin Wetherill, who will continue to serve the organization in an advisory capacity.

“At uBreakiFix, we’ve always been led by doing the next right thing—for our customers, for our people, and for our business,” Wetherill said. “It’s been an incredible journey so far, and this is only the beginning. This transition is another step forward for uBreakiFix, and I’m excited to see how the business will continue to grow, evolve, and innovate under Dave’s leadership.”

uBreakiFix was founded in 2009 when Wetherill was just 21 years old. Wetherill, along with co-founders David Reiff and Eddie Trujillo, captained the company’s growth from start-up to industry leader, forging partnerships with some of the biggest names in tech, including Samsung and Google.

As strategic advisors, Wetherill, Reiff, and Trujillo will continue to work closely with uBreakiFix’s partner programs, maintain active roles on the company’s Franchise Advisory Council, and support Barbuto and team with growth initiatives.

“The last 12 years have exceeded even our own expectations for what this business could become,” Wetherill said. “I fully expect uBreakiFix to continue exceeding expectations at every level.”
