iPhone 6 Outer Shell Leak
In a never-ending torrent of rumor and speculation that is the todays smartphone industry, it’s hard not to take any of it without a healthy dose of skepticism. However, the French site nowhereelse.fr has recently obtained what appears to be an outer shell for the new iPhone 6.
Many rumor sites have hypothesized that Apple will be releasing two sizes of iPhone 6, a 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch model. The recent leaked photos seem to support the theory of a 4.7-inch model but any information regarding a 5.5-inch model has so far been strangely absent.
We can see from the photos of the supposed iPhone 6 housing many of the rumored design features such as the side-positioned sleep/wake button, pill-shaped volume buttons, and Apple-shaped cutout. The logo cutout has been a common theme in iPhone 6 leaks, which would be a step away from the iPhone design as all but the 1st generation iPhone have featured a painted Apple logo, the only other Apple devices to share this design feature being iPads.
An announcement of a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 is expected from Apple around September, with the larger 5.5-inch coming some time after. This may explain why leaks regarding the 5.5-inch model have not been forthcoming.
The source of this most recent leak claims that the back housing pictured is of high quality construction indicating that this may be more of a final production model rather than an early prototype. Whether or not this is indeed for the iPhone 6, we will know more in around 3 months.
