How to Donate your Old Electronics to Charity

12 Days of Tech-Mas

When it’s out with the old and in with the new, it’s nice to know that the old is going to do some good. If you donate your old electronics to charity and companies that promise to reuse them, you are helping those less fortunate and bringing essential technology to those who otherwise would not have access to it. Plus, all donations are tax-deductible and will prevent harmful products from leaking into landfills. That’s definitely something to feel good about.

Here’s How to Donate Your Old Electronics:

Educational Assistance LTD:

The EAL connects companies that want to donate electronics to colleges and universities that are in need of them. The colleges and universities then create scholarships with the money they save on products. Start a donation by filling out a short questionnaire and the organization will reach out with specific instructions for your donation.

In 2014, Goodwill joined the launch of a national electronics recycling program called Responsible Recycling Leader program. In addition to giving your electronics a new home, they promise to adhere to ethical and environmentally safe recycling standards for broken or unsellable items. National Cristina Foundation:

This foundation works to connect businesses and consumers looking to recycle electronics with local organizations that are in need of technology resources. The foundation will also facilitate the donation process making it as easy as possible for both parties.

Electronic Access Foundation:

The Electronics Access Foundation is a partner of the NCA and works towards the same goals but EAF makes it even easier by offering to pick up your donation and also making sure that all devices are wiped clean of data. EAF is able to refurbish and repair electronics so that they are in the best shape to be distributed to those in need. Learn more or schedule a pick up of your devices here.
